Learn the idea, see the national and Nairobi picture, then go down to Mathare and see who is doing what, where.
Nexus Bridge (3N) is a Life & Peace Institute programme, delivered on the ground in Mathare by UAYO. The problem it’s trying to fix is ordinary: a humanitarian responder, a development worker and a peacebuilder can all be active on the same street in Mathare without knowing the other two exist. This site is one piece of fixing that — not a finished solution, a working tool the programme is testing in Mathare first, before anyone decides whether it’s worth doing anywhere else.
There’s no Kenya-wide or Nairobi-wide coordination mechanism to report on yet, so the Kenya and Nairobi pages say exactly that instead of inventing something to fill the space. Mathare — its six wards, Hospital, Mabatini, Huruma, Ngei, Mlango Kubwa and Kiamaiko — is where this is actually being tried.
The 337 organisations listed were pulled together from ward-level questionnaires run before this site existed, not collected through the Join form. Some are full profiles; a lot are just a name and a ward, because that’s what the paper sheets had. We expect to find mistakes and missing entries in it, and we’re relying on the organisations themselves to correct it through Join.
Every figure here is self-reported by the organisation, not verified by us, and dated so you can see how old it is. We publish a name, ward, type, activities and pillars — plus a phone number or email only if the organisation itself chose to share one, so people can reach them directly. We never publish a private individual’s own contact details, and groups are never ranked against each other, only grouped by how broad their work is. The Data page has the full method and a download of everything that’s public.
“Mathare Nexus Hub” is a working title, not a settled name — UAYO and Life & Peace Institute haven’t signed off on a final one yet. If you spot something wrong, out of date, or missing, that’s genuinely useful to hear about.
